Southern Universe EXPO: The Proposal XR Edition

Step into the historical South: a world both familiar and strange, suspended in a parallel time. World Expositions have long celebrated visions of prosperity and imagined futures. Yet behind these radiant displays lies a settler-colonial past that remains unresolved.Inspired by the 1935 Taiwan Exposition, a grand event where colonial governance and modern spectacle converged, this game invites players to navigate between acts of settlement and exhibition-making. To fund your proposal, you’ll extract resources and accumulate your own “settler experiences.” These are not just paths to victory. They become the core material of your final proposal.

How will you choose to interpret this history?

This project was initially developed through a collaborative research process by Wu Chi-Yu and Rikey Tenn, with game design led by Wu Chi-Yu. Huang Ding-Yun served as advisor and dramaturg, offering insights toward the performative dimensions of the project. XR multimedia production was realized by the collective 2ENTER.
