Greenhouse Zero is an immersive video installation inspired by the 19th-century Wardian case used for transporting plants across oceans. These sealed containers maintained humidity and temperature during long voyages, allowing entire tropical ecologies to survive while being removed from their native environments. What was transported was never merely a single plant, but an entire ecology composed of soil, air, and microorganisms. Once nature is enclosed within a box, forests begin to be segmented, classified, and collected; it becomes both a greenhouse and a living archive.
Within this space, nature no longer exists in its original form. Life no longer depends on sunlight or climate, but instead metabolizes images and language. Environments preserved in human memory are stored as information, while documents and archives become the conditions for their continued existence. Landscapes generated from data, in turn, reshape how humans imagine nature. From terrariums to databases, from one greenhouse to another, nature is displaced, preserved, and continuously regenerated in another form.
